Flu Clinic Schedules for 2011-2012

We are now offering Seasonal Flu Vaccine on a walk-in basis during regular business hours on Fridays, and will hold Flu Clinics here at the Health Department, on Friday, October 7 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This vaccine is for anyone over 6 months of age.  There is no charge for children 18 years and younger.   For adults there is a charge, or we can bill most insurances – please bring your insurance information with you.

The 2011-2012 vaccine will protect against three flu strains that experts predict will circulate this year:  an influenza B virus, and H3N2 virus and an H1N1 virus.  Those who received the Seasonal Flu Vaccine last flu season (late 2010 or early 2011) will need to be vaccinated again this fall with this season’s vaccine.

An annual flu vaccination is your best protection from the flu. Over a 30-year period, flu-associated deaths nationwide have ranged from about 3,000 to 49,000 each year. According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) in 2008, more than 1,400 Missourians died from the flu and/or pneumonia. More flu information is available at cdc.gov/flu.
