The Lincoln County Health Department has well water test kits available for you to pick up at our office. The directions are included in the box, along with an envelope to enclose your $10 fee by check or money order. Water samples must be dropped off at Lincoln County Health Department no later than 10:00 am. This kit will only test for coliform and e. coil.

If you are not on a private well and would like to test your water, here is a list of private labs that test offer testing services.

Instructions for testing your private well water:

  1. Pick up a test kit at the Health Department

    • Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30p.m., Monday – Friday

  2. Follow the instructions to collect your water sample

  3. Bring the test kit and $10 (check or money order) back to the Health Department ready to ship

  4. Place your sample in the grey bin by the front door

    • Sample must be dropped of Monday through Friday by 10 a.m. in order for the sample to be accepted by the state lab

    • The kit includes a mailing sticker to send the sample to the State Laboratory in Jefferson City

Public, or community water supplies, are regulated by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR). To access a report on you local water supply, please follow the link below to the DNR website. All complaints regarding any public water supply should be directed to the supplier or to the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-385-2129
