reportable diseases

As a core function of public health, health departments around the world collect reports of communicable disease in an attempt to control outbreaks and prevent the spread of disease.

When a person becomes ill with a reportable disease, their health care provider is mandated by law to report it to the local Health Department and a report is filed to Centers for Disease Control through State Department of Health. Often the investigation process includes education for the client and their family. In Lincoln County, we work with schools and other providers to identify disease outbreaks in a timely manner. You can find a list of Reportable Diseases here.
